I assume the max bar length is determined by engine power, chain pitch, type of use that's anticipated and oiler capacity Both saws are 64cc's and Stihl recomends up to a 25 inch bar but I seen people using a 28 inch bar The Stihl MS 391 25 is a chainsaw that features a 25-inch bar
